Morocco's Lower House Experience, 'model’ in the Region

Rabat - The experience of the Moroccan House of Representatives (lower house) is a "model" in the region, said Monday in Rabat, Jeffery Donaldson, a member of the British House of Commons and governor at Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD).

"The Moroccan parliamentary experience can be transferred to other countries," said Donaldson during a meeting with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi El Alami, on the sidelines of the launching ceremony of the institutional twinning project between the Moroccan, French and British lower houses.

This twinning project is likely to give not only "a regional but also an international dimension to this parliamentary experience," he said.

For his part, Talbi El Alami hailed the Moroccan-British parliamentary relations, highlighting the positive results of his visit in 2015 to the British parliament, at the head of a large parliamentary delegation with the aim to explore the British parliamentary experience and strengthen bilateral relations.

Talbi El Alami also expressed the will of the House of Representatives to benefit from the British experience, through exchanging visits, expertise and views as well as reinforcing the convergence of positions on many issues of common interest such as the fight against terrorism, extremism, immigration and climate change.
