Morocco Calls on IDB to Adopt New Funding Mechanisms to Implement Economic Reforms in Member Countries

Jakarta – Morocco's Economy and Finance Minister, Mohamed Boussaid, called on the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to adopt new funding mechanisms to implement economic and financial reforms in IDB member countries.

Speaking at the 41st annual meeting of IDB Board of Governors, the Minister stressed the importance of supporting the sectoral policies of member countries and assisting them to meet the challenges of the global crisis, calling on the Bank to strengthen its support to strategic sectors and structural projects.

Boussaid, who is Morocco’s governor to IDB, emphasized the need to promote investment and financial flows between countries of the Islamic world and strengthen the sovereign wealth funds of member countries to set up investment strategies, create regional partnerships to share successful experiences in the field of sustainable investment, boost partnership between the public and private sectors and develop the economic fabric.

Boussaid also said that Morocco hails the Bank's efforts to finance the development of Islamic countries, through its support in establishing necessary infrastructure, improving citizens’ living conditions and promoting savings.
