Five Years after "Arab Spring", Morocco Increasingly Prosperous

Paris - Five years after the "Arab Spring", Morocco is stable, free and increasingly prosperous, French weekly "Challenges" writes on Thursday. In an article on Morocco's reforms, the publication highlights the significant initiatives of HM King Mohammed VI particularly in terms of women's rights and the fight against poverty, underlining the Sovereign's role in the stability of the kingdom.

The weekly also notes that tax benefits and smooth logistical arrangements attract foreign companies, adding that the aviation industry has taken off and the production of cars, led by Renault, has more than doubled since 2011.

The plant of the French manufacturer, which is connected by a direct rail line to the Tangier Med commercial harbor, is expanding, notes the author of the article, adding that in 2018 the new port is expected to become the most active harbor in the Mediterranean.

The publication also hails Morocco's economic performance, noting that despite the devastating drought in the agricultural sector, the Moroccan GDP is expected to grow by 5 to 6 per cent per year over the next five years.
