Central America's Parliament and House of Advisors Call for Sharing Expertize

Laayoune - Means of fostering the sharing of expertize in several fields of cooperation between the parliaments of Morocco and of Central America were at the heart of the monthly meeting of the executive bureau of the Central American parliament (Parlacen) which took place on Monday in Laayoune.

In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the bureaus of the house of advisors and of the Parlacen called for fostering the sharing of expertize between law-making institutions in Morocco and Parlacen's member states, mainly regarding upholding democracy and promoting territorial governance, participatory democracy and sustainable development, pursuant to the respective constitutions of these countries, international law and Parlacen resolutions.

The two parties also recommended following the example of the experience of the Central American parliament in relation with the Central American integration system (SICA), calling for launching a similar dynamic in the Maghreb, at the initiative of the Moroccan parliament and other parliaments in the region, to give new impetus to the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU).

They also voiced their support for a peaceful, final and negotiated solution to the Sahara conflict, under the UNSC resolutions and Morocco's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The two legislative bodies also urged the setting up of a periodic monitoring mechanism for the implementation of recommendations by the house of advisors and the Parlacen.
