COP22: Preparations Going Well, Deadlines Duly Respected (Commissioner General)

Rabat - The preparations for the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 22), to be held in Marrakech in November, are going according to schedule and deadlines are duly respected, COP 22 Commissioner General Abdeladim Lhafi said Monday in Rabat.
Before representatives of technical and financial partners and the diplomatic corps accredited in Morocco, Lhafi said that preparations for COP22 are going well and deadlines are duly respected, especially in terms of setting the organizing committee, the design of fiscal governance mechanisms and the award of contracts for the development of the event venue.

At an information meeting, held by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in partnership with the COP22 Steering Committee, the COP22 Commissioner said that on the eve of the launch of the ratification process of the Paris Agreement, all measures relating to the organization of COP22 (November 07-18, 2016) have been taken and are operationalized according to a meticulously established schedule.

He also tackled the implementation of the Paris Agreement, pointing out in this regard that contacts are regular with the French Presidency to sharpen dialogue on all levels.

"We have also just finalized the Headquarters Agreement to be signed between Morocco and the United Nations during the second half of May", he added
